Vatican Confidential: Why Are So Many Rumors Coming out of the Holy See?
Their contents range from allegations of corruption and cronyism in Rome, to internal criticism of a Vatican effort to tackle money laundering, to a bizarre letter speculating about an assassination attempt on Pope Benedict XVI.
Each leak would be embarrassing enough on its own. Together, they add up to a picture of disarray at the top tiers of the Catholic Church, even as the Vatican admitted 22 more bishops to the College of Cardinals on Saturday, expanding the ranks of those who could one day become pope.
"The real news isn't the content of these documents," says Andrea Tornielli, a long-time Vatican watcher. "It's the fact that all these documents are coming out at the same time."
Just who the leaks have in their sights is less than clear. In a statement posted Monday on the Vatican Radio's website, the spokesman for the Holy See, Federico Lombardi, compared the rapid-fire disclosures to the Wikileaks revelations in the United States and seemed to imply that the documents were being released in order to discredit the church.
"We must resist and not allow ourselves to be swallowed by the whirlpool of confusion, which is what those with bad intentions want," Lombardi wrote.
A likely target is Pope Benedict XVI's second-in-command, Secretary of State Cardinal Tarcisio Bertone. Appointed in 2006 to run the day-to-day affairs of the Vatican while the pope focused on affairs of the spirit, Bertone has faced fierce opposition from the Vatican's diplomatic staff, which has made little secret that it regards him as an outsider.
Bertone's predecessor Cardinal Angelo Sodano refused to vacate his office for months after his appointment. Bertone has also been accused of maneuvering to increase the likelihood that the next pope is an Italian. Cardinals must be younger than 80 to be able to vote for ta new pope. Of the 18 new cardinals who meet that criteria, seven are Italian.
The most damaging revelations are leaked letters from the Holy See's ambassador to the United States, Archbishop Carlo Maria Vigano, who until last October was in charge of the Vatican's efforts at financial reforms. Naming names close to Bertone, they make allegations of crooked contracting and of a campaign of defamation against the Secretary of State. Slightly less scandalous are a series of memos criticizing a high-profile effort to reform the Vatican bank, calling the proposals flawed and full of loopholes. The most off-the-wall leak is an anonymous document reporting a conversation in which an Italian cardinal on a trip to China speculated that the pope would be dead within a year and replaced by Cardinal Angelo Scola of Milan. Scola has decline to comment.
The letter is bizarre, recounting in German a conversation an Italian cardinal conducted with Chinese catholics. According to the text, the statements of Cardinal were madeapparently made with such certainty and firmness that his interlocutors in China thought with horror that an attack was being planned against the Holy Father.
According to Sandro Magister, editor of the Rome-based website Chiesa (Italian for church), the flurry of revelations is in part the consequence of a long-running degradation in the quality of the Vatican staff, dating back to the reign of John Paul II, who put global evangelism over the day-to-day running of the bureaucracy.
"His horizon was the world," says Magister. "He lived for travelling. Of the roman curia he didn't care much about." Meanwhile, local bishops facing plummeting numbers in the ranks of priests began withholding their best men for themselves.
"Bertone has found himself to be the number one of a Vatican curia that's very disorganized and of very low quality," says Magister. "And he hasn't been able to put it in order."
In this view, the leaks are in part attacks on Bertone's administration, but also the manifestation of behind-the-scenes maneuvering, driven by internal rivalries and the beginnings of the inevitable battle for succession.
"You've got lots of groups, clans, small and medium, that in the confusion are fighting with each other," says Magister.
Of course, for the moment, Benedict shows few signs of leaving. Though he turns 85 in April and has begun to show signs of his age, he wouldn't be the first pope to defy expectations. "I've seen lots of candidates for pope die before the last pope did," says Tornielli.

TERROR: An Al-Qaida link man arrested planning to blow up Capitol Hill
A 29-year-old Moroccan man who believed he was working with al-Qaida was arrested Friday near the U.S. Capitol as he was planning to detonate what he thought was a suicide vest that undercover operatives gave him, officials said.
Amine El Khalifi of Alexandria, Va., was taken into custody with a gun that didn't work and inert explosives, according to a counterterrorism official.
He arrived near the Capitol in a van with the two undercover operatives, and walked toward the building, according to court papers. He was arrested before he left the parking garage.
El Khalifi made a brief appearance on Friday afternoon in federal court in Alexandria, where a judge set a bail hearing for Wednesday. After his arrest, FBI agents raided a red brick rambler home in Arlington, Va. A police car blocked the entrance.
A criminal complaint charges him with knowingly and unlawfully attempting to use a weapon of mass destruction against property that is owned and used by the United States. The charge carries a maximum penalty of life in prison.
El Khalifi, who was under constant surveillance, expressed interest in killing at least 30 people and considered targeting a building in Alexandria and a restaurant, synagogue and a place where military personnel gather in Washington before he settled on the Capitol after canvassing that area a couple of times, the counterterrorism official said.
During the investigation, El Khalifi went with undercover operatives in January to a quarry in West Virginia to practice detonating explosives, according to court documents. He believed he was working with an al-Qaida operative on the plot, according to an affidavit.
El Khalifi came to the U.S. when he was 16 years old and is unemployed and not believed to be associated with al-Qaida. He had been under investigation for about a year and had overstayed his visitor visa, which expired in 1999, making him in the country illegally, according to court documents. He told acquaintances in January 2011 that he agreed the "war on terrorism" was a "war on Muslims" and that they needed to be ready for war, the affidavit said.
Before settling on a plot to conduct a suicide bombing in the Capitol, El Khalifi considered blowing up an office building in Alexandria, where military officials worked and a restaurant in Washington to target military officials who gathered there. He even purchased supplies that included nails for the operation, according to the affidavit.
Later, when he settled on bombing the Capitol, El Khalifi asked his associates for more explosives that could be detonated by dialing a cellphone number. In January, he unknowingly told authorities he wanted to know if an explosion would be large enough to destroy an entire building.
El Khalifi met with an undercover law enforcement officer, who gave him an automatic weapon that didn't work. El Khalifi carried the firearm around the room, practiced pulling the trigger and looking at himself in the mirror.
A former landlord in Arlington said he believed El Khalifi was suspicious and called police a year and a half ago. Frank Dynda said when he told El Khalifi to leave, the suspect said he had a right to stay and threatened to beat up Dynda. The former landlord said he thought El Khalifi was making bombs, but police told him to leave the man alone. Dynda had El Khalifi evicted in 2010.
El Khalifi had at least one man staying with him and claimed he was running a luggage business from the apartment, Dynda said, doubting that was true because he never saw any bags. "I reported to police I think he's making bombs," Dynda said. "I was ready to get my shotgun and run him out of the building, but that would have been a lot of trouble."
Two people briefed on the matter told The Associated Press the FBI has had him under surveillance around the clock for several weeks. They spoke on a condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to speak publicly.
Dar Al-Hijrah Islamic Center imam Johari Abdul-Malik, who along with other Muslim leaders meets regularly with the FBI, said he was contacted by an agency official and told that Khalifi was not someone he needed to worry about. He said the official told him that Khalifi was "not a regular at your mosque or any mosque in the area."
He said he offered to supply the FBI with surveillance video of the mosque in Arlington in case it helped with their investigation but was told that was it not necessary.
Police are close to arresting one of El Khalifi's associates on charges unrelated to the terror conspiracy, the counterterrorism official said. The associate was said to also be a Moroccan, living here illegally.
Police are investigating others El Khalifi associated with, but not because they believe the associates were part of a terror conspiracy, the official said.

Amnesty says US police killed 500 by stun guns since 2001
Amnesty International has urged US police and law enforcement agencies to limit the use of Tasers which have killed at least 500 people in the United States since 2001.
The appeal came just days after a man in Alabama became the 500th individual in the US to be killed in the past decade after being subdued by a police stun gun.
“At least 500 people in the US have died since 2001 after being shocked with Tasers either during their arrest or while in jail,” said Amnesty International.
It says the high count of casualty “underscores the need for tighter rules limiting the use of such weapons in law enforcement.”
The rights group says scores of such fatalities within the US could be traced to the unnecessary use of force by American police officers.
“Of the hundreds who have died following police use of Tasers in the US, dozens and possibly scores of deaths can be traced to unnecessary force being used,” said Susan Lee, Americas Program Director at Amnesty International.
“This is unacceptable, and stricter guidelines for their use are now imperative,” she said.
US police, however, defend the use of Tasers, insisting that the weapon saves lives and can be used to subdue dangerous or uncooperative suspects.
Amnesty says security forces should only use the weapon “as an alternative in situations where police would otherwise consider using firearms.”
Researchers, citing documents obtained under the Freedom of Information Act, have pointed to dozens of cases of police use of Tasers that suggest deviations from government guidelines.
On February 13, 43-year-old Johnnie Kamahi Warren became the latest victim of police deployment of stun guns when a police officer in Dothan, Alabama targeted him with a Taser at least twice.
Warren reportedly stopped breathing shortly after being shocked and died in hospital less than two hours later.

VIGILANTE GROUP OF NIGERIA(VGN) ENDORSES ALI SOKOTO AS COMMANDER GENERAL AT UNIFICATION PARLY
The fomerly existing two factions of the Vigilante Group of Nigeria(VGN) have fused into one united entity.This followed the meeting of all the arms of the executives of the two groups from all the 36 States of the Federation including the Federral Capital Territory, Abuja, at the general meeting held at the Kaduna headquarters of VGN on February,11,2012.
The mmeting was among others convened to chart anew cause for the group with the aim of facilitating rapid growth and development in the organisation.
At the end of the meeting which lasted several hours, a communique endorsed by the acting national Public Relations Officer of VGN, Dr A.A.Sule and the Commander General/National Chairman,Alhaji Ali Sokoto said the executives of the two groups resolved as follows:
*That the process of election that brought Usman Mohammed Jahun was faulty, unconstitutional, null and void.
*Based on the above, his election is hereby declared null and void.
*That henceforth, Usman Mohammed Jahun should cease to parade himself as the Commander General of of the organisation.
*That we have unanimously agreed that Alhaji Ali Sokoto be returned as the Commander General/member board of Trustees of VGN immediately.
*That the lingering litigation in court be withdrawn as the issue at stake bothering on the organisational documents solve itself as the said documents are in Alhaji Ali Sokoto's custody.
*That with all the above-all members should embrace this unification and reconciliation drive in order to move the organisation forward.
*That an audit panel be contituted to look into the organisation's finances in the last four years to date.
That all the VGN documents in respect of number 7 above be returned to the Commander General,Ali Sokoto with immediate effect.
*That the general public is hereby advised to desist from relating to the said Usman Jahun as Commander General of VGN.
*That our accounts with First Bank of Nigeria Plc, Zoo Road,Kano be frozen until further directives from the organisation".

A Scandalous 2012 Budget: Senate uncover N1trillion illegally injected into appropriation
A N1trillion appropriation illegally included in the 2012 budget by some Ministries and their agencies have been uncovered by the Senate Committee on Appropriation.
This came to light yesterday when the Senate Committee on Appropriation announced that it has uncovered how some government Ministries Department and Agencies (MDAS) secretly smuggled in over N1trillion projects into the N4.7trillion fiscal estimate.
Accordingly, with the alleged smuggled items the 2012 fiscal estimate may have been pushed up to about N5.7 trillion.
In a statement issued in Abuja, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Appropriation, Senator Ahmed Maccido, alleged that over 40 percent of the projects are not captured in the budget presented to the National Assembly by President Goodluck Jonathan last year.
These projects, he noted were smuggled into the budget by the MDAS and "we at the committee level would jettison them because they are not in the original budget."
Although there are indications that the Senate may pass the budget before the end of the month, Senator Maccido insists that the committee would subject the budget to a more thorough scrutiny in other to expunge all the unauthorized projects.
"The committee has discovered what we can call substantial changes in the 2012 budget .The committee would put the budget as presented by the MDGS and the President and expunge the unauthorized projects.
"The problem is that, we are seeing projects that are not in the original version of the budget presented to us by President Goodluck Jonathan and substantial part of these projects are being smuggled into the budget by the MDGS and Ministers.
"Over 40 percent of the projects in the budget are not in the original budget. And we are saying no, to the items so smuggled, which is over N1trillion.
"So we are right now comparing the budget as originally presented by the President and the version presented by the MDGS. Unless these projects are there in the original budget, we are going to scrap them. It’s no longer going to be business as usual.
"These people are just smuggling in projects that are not in the budgets. And we are going to remove them," he stated.
However, the development may have sent jitters down the spine of most Ministers and heads of government agencies.
Meanwhile, the Senate has given a matching order to its standing committees to submit their reports to the appropriation committee for necessary legislative action.
Spokesman of the Senate, Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe disclosed that the Senate is ready to approve the budget before the end of the month.

The federal government is putting finishing touches to a bill that will enforce compliance and give credence to the patronage of made in Nigeria goods campaign. The Minister of Trade and Investment, Olusegun Aganga, who stated this in Abuja recently also gave assurance that domestic trade promotion would form the core of a new trade strategy being put together by the ministry.
For a very long time, economic experts have called for enabling laws to sustain guarantee made-in-Nigeria product, with the new development, there is hope that Nigeria’s goods would receive more patronage.
The proposed bill on made in Nigeria goods will focus on patronage of products that Nigeria has the capacity to produce which would boost efforts at promoting the revitalization of the automobile, textile and plastics industries when passed into law.
The promoters of the bill explained that any waiver to be granted by the federal government would henceforth be sector-specific as part of the transformational agenda of government. The Ministry of Trade is being repositioned to become a centre of trade agreements, data, statistics and trade-related information.
Meanwhile the Federal Government is also currently working on a new trade policy that will optimally harness Nigeria’s trade potentials for job creation, wealth generation and economic transformation.
It would also provide an enabling environment to boost trade and investment across all sectors of the Nigerian economy. A committee on that was set up by the Ministry of Trade to review the country’s existing trade policies, which would soon complete its work.
The Ministry‘s mandate cuts across four major areas such as attracting Foreign Direct Investment into all sectors of the economy, infrastructure and power and trade, industry and enterprise.
It is expected that the committee will soon submit a creative, comprehensive, practicable and thought-provoking report that will remove all bottlenecks inhibiting the full actualization of Nigeria’s trade potentials and reposition trade to serve as a catalyst for job creation, wealth generation and economic transformation.
The objective is to ensure that Nigeria has an all-inclusive trade policy that covers all sectors of the economy, including export of crude oil. A robust policy is required that will determine how and where the country exports its crude oil.
Speaking on the ministry’s strategy for growing the nation’s industrial sector, Aganga recently stated that it would concentrate its efforts on areas where the country had comparative and competitive advantage, adding that the Federal Government was committed to partnering the Organised Private Sector to increase the productivity of local industries.
He said, "Our aim is to build our industries where we have comparative and competitive advantage. Also, we want to proactively link industries to our research institutes across the country because we strongly believe that innovation is a key part of industrial development. Countries that have successfully achieved rapid industrial development were able to do so because of the strong link between the industrial sector and research institutions. We have begun talks with the Ministry of Science and Technology on how we can make this work."

The objective is to ensure that Nigeria has an all-inclusive trade policy that covers all sectors of the economy, including export of crude oil. A robust policy is required that will determine how and where the country exports its crude oil.
Speaking on the ministry’s strategy for growing the nation’s industrial sector, Aganga recently stated that it would concentrate its efforts on areas where the country had comparative and competitive advantage, adding that the Federal Government was committed to partnering the Organised Private Sector to increase the productivity of local industries.
He said, "Our aim is to build our industries where we have comparative and competitive advantage. Also, we want to proactively link industries to our research institutes across the country because we strongly believe that innovation is a key part of industrial development. Countries that have successfully achieved rapid industrial development were able to do so because of the strong link between the industrial sector and research institutions. We have begun talks with the Ministry of Science and Technology on how we can make this work."
There is an urgent need to review and harmonise Nigeria’s trade policies to enable the country maximise its abundant human natural resources for rapid economic transformation. In the past, some people will just go abroad and sign different types of trade agreements on behalf of the Federal Government without recourse to the economic implications of such agreements to the Nigerian economy.
Islamic Bank: Jaiz Commences Business in 3 Branches
The Nigeria's first licensed Islamic Bank, Jaiz Bank Plc has commenced full operation of non-interest commercial banking in Nigeria from three branches in Abuja, Kaduna and Kano.
A staffer of the bank in Abuja Office informed the Economic Confidential that most of the early customers are groups of business institutions and private individuals from different religion persuasions making enquiries as well as opening different accounts. The officer in Operation Department said the service of the bank is opened to everyone that is interested in the non-interest products.
The introduction of Islamic banking is part of a drive by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to propel Nigeria’s economy and promote financial inclusion by introducing alternative products. The non-interest regime offers veritable incentives and attractive options for investors.
At its inaugural Annual General Meeting (AGM), Chairman of Jaiz bank, Alhaji Umar Mutallab said: "The whole idea of the banking option is to bring more people into banking in Nigeria that provides banking without interest.
Alhaji Mutallab who was former Chairman of First Bank further added that: "This kind of banking is for all religions because no religion wouldn’t want to help, especially funding critical project without using interest elements. Whether it is Christianity or Judaism, every community wants to borrow money without being bugged down with multi-layer interest structure.
"This banking option is a product with a difference. We hope our brothers from the divide will see it as an ethical bank which is not meant to promote particular religion. It is for all Nigerians and not Muslims alone.

CAC Registers 2 Million Business Names
The Corporate Affairs Commission, CAC, has registered over two million business names as at December 31, 2011. The Registrar General and chief executive officer of the Commission, Barrister Mahmud Bello made the disclosure in an interview with the Economic Confidential, an online economic magazine.
Breaking down the figure of the registered business entities, Bello said "As at 31st December 2011, the Commission has registered a total of 896,095 Companies, 1,917,670 Business Names and 47,421 Incorporated Trustees."
He also disclosed that the commission would soon strike off about 50,000 companies that have remained dormant over the years and refused to file their annual returns even after registration.
He said the Commission had in accordance with the provisions of Section 525 CAMA struck off the names of over 9,000 companies from the Register which was published in the Official Gazette No. 76 Volume 95 of the federal government.
"Every Company is required to file Annual Returns within 18 months after incorporation and subsequently every year. And any company that refuses to file its annual returns shall be deemed to have ceased to exist as their names will be struck off from the Register.
The Commission will also reject or turn down requests for due diligence from Banks and other regulatory bodies."
Barrister Bello also told the Economic Confidential that the Commission would soon widen its enforcement activities by using the services of independent professionals to reach out to these unregistered businesses and get them registered.
He said "Our state offices have also intensified their enforcement drive through regular inspection visits to verify the status of businesses generating in their area of activities.
In addition, the Commission is liaising with contract awarding bodies both in the public and private sector to further enforce the practice of confirming the status of companies before contracts are awarded."
The Registrar general of the commission also regretted that in spite of affordability of business registration many companies operate illegal without being registered. He said "We have observed that in spite of the establishment of offices in all states of the Federation and other efforts made to ease the process of registration of businesses, some people still carry on businesses without registration. This has created opportunities for unscrupulous elements to use such unregistered businesses to defraud unsuspecting citizens. This is unacceptable and a trend contrary to the Companies and Allied Matters Act (CAMA). In order to stem this ugly practice, the Commission has made arrangements in its state offices to further simplify and ease the registration of companies. Public enlightment has also been intensified to educate people on the need to register."

Igbo Businessmen Refuse to Relocate from the North
After the directive by Movement for the Actualization of the Soveriegn State of Biafra (MASSOB) for Igbos in the North to return to their ancestral homes on the allegation that Boko Haram specifically targeted people from Eastern Nigeria for attacks, most of the Igbo businessmen in Kano have refused to relocate citing conducive business environment in the city.
The Economic Confidential was in Kano where it met with some Igbo leaders who disassociate themselves from the campaign by of community by the Ohaneze Indigbo of Kano.
Craving anonymity to avoid creating disaffection among Igbo community in Kano, an Igbo community leader and businessman who has lived in Kano for several years with interest in hotels and electronics told the Economic Confidential that apart from ignoring the MASSOB's directive some of them had cautioned the chairman of Ohaneze in Kano to desist from using the name of Igbos to cause in Kano state where they had witnessed peacefully coexistence with the local people in the last eight years before the recent attacks by Boko Haram against security agencies.
The Igbo leader said: “There is adequate security provided in the state to protect non-indigenes just as the traditional and religious leaders have assured us of maximum supports and protection in the state.”
The leader said: "We have warned Chief Tobias Michael Idika, President of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Kano State Chapter to stop using the name of Igbo to create enmity with our hosts and foment troubles for us. It is unfortunate that the chief and MASSOB leaders ignore the huge investment of Igbo business men and women who control large chunk of businesses in Kano ranging from hospitality industry, electronics items, spare parts dealership, transportation business, housing projects, road construction, drugs and medical consumables.
"With more than one million Igbos and our over N20 billion investments in Kano, this is our home away from home. And no one can force us to return home where there lands are scarce and expensive for setting up new businesses."
Meanwhile Governor Martin Elechi of Ebonyi State has described the call by some stakeholders in the South East geopolitical zone for return of Igbo from the Northern part of the country due to alleged killings of Igbos by Boko Haram, as a call for the disintegration of Nigeria.
The governor, who pointed out that God created Nigerians to live anywhere in the country and not only in Igbo land, further described the call as “misguided”, adding that Nigerians everywhere had the task of being united, irrespective of any socio-political differences that might arise at any given time.
In a meeting with stakeholders to feel the pulse of the people on national issues, Elechi said: “Not even in the most civilized economy of society do you have an environment totally free of crime but I want to remind you that the number of Ndigbo, people of South East, who have died in the Northern states are not as many as the number of Ebonyians who died in Ezillo. So, where do you run to that you will never have another crisis?"
He added that: “Asking Igbos to come home is a retrogressive step. That call is to put to an end the Nigerian nation, I say no to that. Nigeria is for all of us and not for some of us. I want to advise us to be closer to the security agents and let them know what is going on in their environment. If you have to come home, what about the killings in our own state? The final solution is that good will always triumphs over evil.
“The only solution is to embrace peace and cultivate the habit of peace. Preach and practice it and enforce it as much as you can. Let us not hear of retaliation again. It is not in our dictionary for now,” the governor said.
The Leader of the Movement for the Actualisation of the Sovereign State of Biafra, MASSOB, Chief Ralph Uwazruike who is struggling by all means to be crowned 'the new Igbo leader' after the death of Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu, has ordered Igbos in the North to get out and return to their home states in the East following incessant attacks by the Boko Haram in the region.
Recently after a closed door meeting, governors of south-eastern states announced that they had been in constant touch with the various state governments to ensure the security of lives and property of Igbos and that they would continue to dialogue with political and religious leaders as well as security agencies for a peaceful and united country.
The meeting was attended by Governors Sullivan Chime of Enugu, Theodore Orji of Abia, Rochas Okorocha of Imo and Martins Elechi of EbonyiPeter Obi of Anambra states.

BOKO HARAM: XMAS DAY BOMBER, ALI SOKOTO RE-ARRESTED
The spokesperson for the SSS, Mrs. Marilyn Ogar, told newsmen in Abuja on Friday that Kabiru Abubakar Dikko, alias Kabiru Sokoto, was arrested at Mutum in Gassol Local Government Area of Taraba.
Dikko was first arrested on Jan. 13 by the police but escaped from custody two days later when he was being taken to his residence at Abaji in the FCT for a search.
Ogar said Dikko was rearrested in a joint military-SSS operation at a hideout at about 4:30 a.m.on Friday.
“Kabiru Sokoto was picked up from where he was hiding in a clothes rack at the residence of an accomplice.
“On his escape, he had taken refuge at Umaisha in Toto Local Government Area of Nasarawa State before he fled to Taraba where he was eventually re-arrested,’’ she said.
Ogar did not name the accomplice or say whether they had the accomplice also in custody.Ogar warned that perpetrators of evil would be brought to book and assured Nigerians that the security agencies were determined to end the activities of “unscrupulous elements’’ in the country.
“We are poised to bring to an end the activities of a few unscrupulous elements,” she said, and warned that the law would always catch up with perpetrators of evil.
Ogar said the 29-year-old suspect was born to the family of Umaru Jabbi of Gagi village in Sokoto South Local Government Area on May 9, 1983.
She explained that upon the death of his father, the suspect’s uncle, Abubakar Dikko, adopted him and gave him his name.
The spokesperson said that the suspect, who completed his secondary education in 2003, was admitted to the College of Nursing and Midwifery, Sokoto, and described him as a “truant with extremist tendencies”.
She said the suspect was declared a leader of the Boko Haram sect in Sokoto in February, 2009.
The police had declared Dikko wanted shortly after he escaped from custody with a N50 million bounty for information that might lead to his arrest.

CLAMP DOWN ON JOURNALISTS IN NIGERIA: UNION DERIDE GOVERNMENT'S ACTION

The Nigerian Union of Journalists(NUJ) has derided the Federal Government for the recent clampdown on the media and specifically the continued closure of the press center at the Presodential Lounge of Lagos Airport.
In a statement issued yesterday by the national secretariate of the union and signed by its National Secretray, Shuaibu Usman Leman ,it noted that:
"The continued closure of the Media Centre at the Murtala MohammedInternational Airport in Lagos by the Nigerian authorities is a further confirmation of the continued fears being expressed by the union that theNigerian State is becoming increasingly hostile to the media.
It will be recalled that last week the Media Centre located at the VIP Wingof the airport, a facility that had been made available to AirportCorrespondents since the airport was built over 30 years ago was sealedand Journalists barred from gaining access to the building.
Very painfulwas the fact that media equipment belonging to about 60 journalists that cover the airport were locked inside the Centre while all entreaties by the NUJ and other well meaning Nigerians for the authorities to allow theseequipment to be retrieved by their owners were blatantly ignored.
The NUJ condemns this deliberate attempt to muzzle the press and wishesto once more draw attention to the rising acts of impunity by the Nigeriansecurity operatives against the media allegedly in furtherance of nationalsecurity.
The NUJ maybe constrained to withdraw all journalists from covering anyGovernment activity within the vicinity of the Lagos airport if such an
unfriendly action against the media is not stopped forthwith andunconditional apology tendered by the respective authority".

In the early months of May 1986, I was among the 36 Jihadist hardliners, who went on a rampage to attack Christian students of the University of Sokoto (Sokoto State in northern Nigeria). In that same week, the Federal Government of Nigeria under the brutal leadership of IBB mobilized us and provided some military vans and Army uniforms which our men used and started killing innocent and defenseless Christians all over the Northern states. I and the son of the Emir of Kano, who is now a Christian by name Rev. Paul Ado Bayero, were among the Muslim fanatics who razed down the sculpture of Jesus at the University of Ibadan (Oyo State in western Nigeria).
The following year, March 5, 1987 to be very precise, the "Evil Genius" General Ibrahim Badamosi Babangida secretly armed us through one of his close aids by the name of Captain Hassan Abubakar (now a Pastor with a fast growing church in Lagos). We went to go and kill some targeted Christians including Rev. Nuhu Kure (Throne room founder) after the destruction we committed at the College of Education in Kafanchan, Kaduna State (North Central Nigeria). And of recent, I was the leader of the team of soldiers of Allah that destroyed Church buildings and properties in Bornu State (northern Nigeria).

There are many, but our main targets which we succeeded in destroying included: Goodnews & ECWA Church, Damboa Road, Maiduguri E.Y.N.L.C.C. Wulari, National Evangelical Mission Inc. Divisional Headquarters Wulari, Elijah Apostolic Christ Church, Oke Ayo Celestial Church of Christ, Deeper Life Bible Church, the Lord’s Chosen and six others in Railway Area and all over Wulari in Maiduguri, Borno State. I can site more than 28 passages from the Holy Qur’an where fighting and killing is justified as approved in the cause and for the sake of Allah. Please turn to the Qur’an (it goes from the back to the front) and see the book Surah At-Taubah Chapter 9:29 "Fight against those who believe not in Allah, nor in the Last Day, nor forbid that which has been forbidden by Allah and His Messenger (Muhammad), and those who acknowledge not the religion of truth (i.e Islam) among the people of the Scripture (Jews and Christians), until they pay the Jizyah with willing submission, and feel themselves subdued." In this passage, every true Muslim(s) is specifically instructed to fight against four (4) groups of people especially the Jews and Christians.
So what is the meaning of Jizyah and how was the name coined?

In that same week, the Federal Government of Nigeria under the brutal leadership of IBB mobilized us and provided some military vans and Army uniforms which our men used and started killing innocent and defenseless Christians all over the Northern states. I and the son of the Emir of Kano, who is now a Christian by name Rev. Paul Ado Bayero, were among the Muslim fanatics who razed down the sculpture of Jesus at the University of Ibadan (Oyo State in western Nigeria).
The following year, March 5, 1987 to be very precise, the "Evil Genius" General Ibrahim Badamosi Babangida secretly armed us through one of his close aids by the name of Captain Hassan Abubakar (now a Pastor with a fast growing church in Lagos). We went to go and kill some targeted Christians including Rev. Nuhu Kure (Throne room founder) after the destruction we committed at the College of Education in Kafanchan, Kaduna State (North Central Nigeria). And of recent, I was the leader of the team of soldiers of Allah that destroyed Church buildings and properties in Bornu State (northern Nigeria).
Can you name some of the buildings and Churches you and your Boko Haramists destroyed?
There are many, but our main targets which we succeeded in destroying included: Goodnews & ECWA Church, Damboa Road, Maiduguri E.Y.N.L.C.C. Wulari, National Evangelical Mission Inc. Divisional Headquarters Wulari, Elijah Apostolic Christ Church, Oke Ayo Celestial Church of Christ, Deeper Life Bible Church, the Lord’s Chosen and six others in Railway Area and all over Wulari in Maiduguri, Borno State. Other church buildings we destroyed and looted include the Aposotic Church, COCIN Church, Evangelical Church/Mission Headquarters, Anglican Church, Baptist Church/Mission, Redeemed Christian Church of God, El-Shaddai Parish, Watchman Charismatic and several others.
Where were the security officers when you were destroying all these church buildings and killing Christians?
Since 1985 when General Ibrahim Badamosi Babangida (IBB) started using us to persecute Christians, the Nigerian Army has been an extension or shall I say an arm of the Muslims agenda to Islamize Nigeria. Wherever they go to attack Christians, the Muslims in the top military positions give the cover by providing the logistics. Since the day of Babangida (1985) Christians suffer violence. This is the time that we must attack them and take what belongs to us by force.
You don’t seem to like IBB and you talk so much of his evil deeds. Are you the only one he used or is there more revelation we can investigate or ascertain further?Babangida is the most wicked and heartless man I have ever seen or worked with. He used many Muslim fanatics (Most of who are now Christians) to commit a lot of atrocities. For example, he used Alhaji Sannusi Dasuki (now Solomon Dasuki), Alhaji Ahmed Ado Bayero (now Rev. Paul Ado Bayero), Alhaji Mohammed Usman (now Evangelist Blessed Usman), Alhaji Sani Jegga (now Isaac Jegga) to attack the following men of God: Late Papa Idahosa, Evangelist Reinhard Bonnke, Rev. Uma Ukpai, Rev. O. Ezekiel and other men of God. He used some of the people whose names mentioned above to burn down several million copies of the Holy Bible. Along with the late MKO Abiola, they both sponsored the sinking of three million copies of the Holy Bible into the high sea.
With all these revelations, can’t IBB be arrested and charged to court?
Who will arrest him? Is it Goodluck or who? Even when we provided the proofs to them that IBB killed Dele Giwa and that he sponsored the burning and looting of the Jos main market (Terminus) and also planted the seed of the present crises in Plateau State in 1991, they refused to arrest him because he is very cunning in his evil ways. He leaves no trace of his evil deeds, but nemesis will soon catch up with him because the sardonic spirit in him will soon expire.
In a simple language, how can you describe IBB?
Ibrahim Babangida is a wicked and heartless man. As a military officer he was very brutal and as a politician he is very selfish and tricky. He better repent and confess his numerous sins and wickedness before it will be too late.
Can you prove to the readers that fighting and killing in the name of Allah is justified in the Holy Qur’an?
I can site more than 28 passages from the Holy Qur’an where fighting and killing is justified as approved in the cause and for the sake of Allah. Please turn to the Qur’an (it goes from the back to the front) and see the book Surah At-Taubah Chapter 9:29 "Fight against those who believe not in Allah, nor in the Last Day, nor forbid that which has been forbidden by Allah and His Messenger (Muhammad), and those who acknowledge not the religion of truth (i.e Islam) among the people of the Scripture (Jews and Christians), until they pay the Jizyah with willing submission, and feel themselves subdued." In this passage, every true Muslim(s) is specifically instructed to fight against four (4) groups of people especially the Jews and Christians.
So what is the meaning of Jizyah and how was the name coined?
From the footnote as you can see in the Qur’an, Jizyah is a tax levied against the people of the scriptures (i.e. the Christians) who are under the Islamic government. Jizyah was coined out after the Jaiz bank that the Muslims are wanting to use to take over the financial world via Islamic Banking.
Are you saying indirectly that Islam is not a religion of peace as most Muslims will want us to believe?
I am saying it directly not indirectly that Islam is a religion of violence It is a religion of force. More than 95% of Nigerian journalists and people of the world are ignorant of what the Qur’an teaches and/or says about Islam and violence.
How do you mean?
Open the Qur’an to Surah Muhammad Chapter 47:4. In this very passage, Muslims are commanded by Allah to kill and smite the neck of anyone who does not accept the teaching of Islam, and according to the satanic verses they (Muslims) would be helping Allah by so doing.I quote exactly as it is written in the Muslims Holy Qur’an: "So, when you meet (in fight-Jihad in Allah’s Cause) those who disbelieve, smite (their) necks till when you have killed and wounded many of them, then bind a bond firmly (on them, i.e. take them as captives). Thereafter (is the time) either for generosity (i.e. free from them without ransom), or ransom (according to what benefits Islam), until the war lays down its burden. Thus [you are ordered by Allah to continue in carrying out Jihad against the disbelievers till they embrace Islam and are saved from the punishment in the Hell-fire or at least come under your protection], but if it had been Allah’s Will, He Himself could certainly have punished them (without you). But (He lets you fight) in order to test some of you with others. But those who are killed in the Way of Allah, He will never let their deeds be lost."
So is that why all Muslims are indirectly supporting Boko Haram?
Yes, Boko Haram is just a name coined by satan to Islamize the world. That is why every true Muslim is directly and indirectly supporting Boko Haram.
Can you explain further?
In Surah Al-Baqarah 2:195, the wealthy Muslims and all those in high position of authority such as IBB, Buhari, Atiku, Isa Yaguda, etc. are told to use their wealth and any position they find themselves in to promote Islam and the cause of jihad of all kinds or else they will face destruction from Allah.
Is that how the suicide bombers come into the picture?
Yes.
My readers will like to know from the Qur’an if Islam is the zenith of wickedness as you earlier said.
In the Qur’an Allah commanded thus "(Remember) when your Lord revealed to the angels, Verily, I am with you, so keep firm those who have believed. I will cast terror into the hearts of those who have disbelieved, so strike them over the necks, and smite over all their fingers and toes." (See the Qur’an of Surah Al-Anfal 8:12)
So you did accordingly?
Yes! Satan used Buhari and Tunde Bakare, the false prophet, to smite the necks and chop off the fingers and toes of several Christians in Zaira, Maiduguri, Bauchi and several other places.

What is the solution to this problem of the Boko Haram menace?
The problem is not Boko Haram. The problem is the Spirit of Islam which must be crushed by the prayer of the Saints. Was it not through prayer that people like Rev. Paul Ado Bayero, Bishop K. K. Degaya, Apostle Johnson Suleman and hundreds of others got saved? Was it not through prayer that I got saved on my way to assassinate both Rev. Samuel Dasuki and Evangelist Blessed Usman when they were in their training camp in a crusade/ministration to their converts? I tell you from my experience this past few months as a Christian, many Christians are not united. In the north Christians are more united and sincere, but in the south & west, Christians are in comfort zones and if they don’t wake up, they will be surprised of what Muslims will do to them.
What can Muslims do in Warri, Port Harcourt and other southern and western zones?
Look let me tell you one top secret. Before I repented, an average of 2,500 Muslim fanatics came to Delta State every month, 2,000 to the Eastern states and 2,000 to Cross River State and 2,500 to other zones. All of these Muslim fanatics were sent in preparation of the holy war (Jihad).

Any advice for the president?
They are desperate to get him/his family by kidnap/killing them, not only by Spiritual means, but through some well trained security men who he think can never disappoint him. About six suicide bombers are in the presidency and one of them is a student from NDA-Nigerian Defence Academy (other details I am keeping for security reasons).

In answer to this question, I shall give you a top secret document which is supposed to be for only committed Muslims which I smuggled out and gave to some Christian leaders in the south.
But tell me a little of how they got the knowledge to manufacture a bomb? Who sponsored your people to do these wicked acts?
We were sponsored by the man they call IBB and some top Muslims within and outside the country. We also worked hand in hand with Al Qaeda. As far back as 12th of June, 2011 when I got converted to Christianity, I gave several documents to Police and SSS. They arrested and detained me. But the Holy Spirit released me the same day that they wanted to kill me secretly by poisoning.
What secrets did you give to them?
I told them that the Muslims are using trailer and vehicles in military colour and are escorted by northern soldiers to smuggle weapons to various mosques and Islamic training schools in Aba, Onitsha, Port Harcourt, Owerri, Calabar, Sapele, Warri, Ebonyi and Enugu States, etc.
What about the bomb manufacturers?
I told them that the Traditional Rulers in the northern part of Nigeria and many state governors in the far north are sponsoring Boko Haram. I told them that I was paid a deposit of 5 million Naira to go and bomb NDA in the month of August 2011 when they will be planning the graduation that just took place where I would have driven straight to the Commander’s Office with a covering letter from a Garrison Officer commander whose name I gave to the police and who is a close relative to IBB.
Did you give the name of the bomb location where the training is going on?
Yes, I gave them and told them where they were training 65 new Islamic Youths in two bomb factories in Bauchi, Bornu and Niger states and also the bomb factory at Hanyan Nassarawa Iku, Niger State.
Any more revelation?
Yes, I gave them many bomb factories even in the southern and eastern states and seven in Kaduna State, Plateau State and Abuja. It was in the Niger State bomb factory that we manufactured the improvised explosive devices that was used to operate in Abuja on October 1, 2010.
Did the police take immediate action?
The news leaked to IBB immediately and he immediately instructed his ground soldiers to relocate the bombs. The Police and SSS were afraid to search some of the mosques because the presidency must be aware that by so doing, the country Will explode into a religious war between Christians and Muslims. That is why I said Nigeria is sitting on Islamic time bomb or shall I say Islamic Barbaric Bomb.

RESPONSE: WHO SAYS THERE IS NO FRAUD IN FAAN?

I read the article as captioned above posted on your blog and I get worried that if somebody can, in a bid to defend his work, post a lot of blatant lies on your blog with a view to mis-inform the public.
I can understand Akin Olukunle that he is trying to defend his job. But however that may sound reasonable, the national interest should have been his priority.
Akin Olukunle tried to defend his employer that there is no Fraud in FAAN. Even a toddler or a mad man on the street knows that FAAN is riddled with corruption. High degree of corruption is being exhibited in FAAN. And this corruption is practised by a clique in FAAN.
Akin Olukunle should please explain why is the Audit investigation instituted by the Honorable Minister of Aviation, if there is no alleged corruption.
Akin Olukunle should also confirm or otherwhise-Why were Mr Kolawole Simeon, Shalangwa, and others transfered out of Lagos because of their involvement in alleged shady contract deal with a Concessionaire with FAAN. These people were brought back by ex-MinisterNjeze.
Akin Olukunle said there is no fraud in FAAN. He claimed that 26 operational vehicles were bought for N246m. A simple calculation would mean that the cars were bought at an avarage price of over N8million.
But specifically, Akin Olukunle forget or refuse to tell the world that 2 Prado were bought at the rate of about N16million, Toyota Camry were bought at the rate of N10,120,000.00 each, Toyota Corrolla were bought at the rate of N6,4million each, Toyota Hillux were bought at the rate of N6.7million.
In the definition of Akin Olukunle, was there fraud in the above purchases or not. If he is confused, a telephone call to Elizade would tell him that a Prado is sold between N9million and N12Million, Camry is between N5.5million and N6.5Million, corrolla is between N3.350million and 3,8million. Please Akin Olukunle should confirm these.
Akin Olukunle said the vehicles are operational vehicles, I laugh! One of the Prado was alledgedly given to the Chairman, Board of Directors, Camry to Captain Araba (Ex-NCAT Rector), Director of Air Transport at the Ministry, etc. These people got the cars because they were Board members. What operations are these people using the vehicle for?
Akin, we staff know you are part of the clique. Posterity is there to judge you.
Akin Olukunle also talk about the Foreign Training of staff. These are good things coming to FAAN. While Akin tried to defend the execution of that training programme, he forget to tell the world the details about the training for the world to know how select few are milking the authority dry.
It was true that 72 staff of FAAN (with some Ministry officials) were to benefit from the training. It was also true that the training was to hold in South Africa but was changed to Miami. But the fact Akin Olukunle hid from the public was how was the training consumated? By who? Why the change in venue? How much was involved? etc.
Akin Olukunle should tell the world that in 2011, an approval of N918million was given by the Board for training, both foreign and local.
About N748million was already spent as at September 2011 including the foreign training. In a bid to ensure utilisation of this approval, the South African training was arranged by our M.D George Urensi with the former M.D Richard.
For this training, each participant would pay $6000 (fraudulently exhorbitant). Already, before now, FAAN had gotten an opportunity for "apprentiship" with Miami Airport in the USA.
All the affected staff had already been given their estacode, Flight Ticket and registration fee of $6,000 each. When the programme changed from South Africa to Miami, the staff used the monies to Miami.
Akin Olukunle refused or neglected to tell the world that Miami training does not require any regostration fee. So, where is the $432,000 for regstration for the training, and who collected that money? Our MD should please answer this question.
AKIN OLUKUNLE, IS THERE FRAUD IN FAAN? There are documentary evidence on all these fact as analysed above.
On the issue of ethnic cleasing, conscience of everybody, including Akin Olukunle will judge him or her. Akin only need to tell everybody why some transfers were made of recent. Why was there questionable transfers out of Lagos to remote locations? These and many others were done to enable the alleged fraud go unabated.
I challenged Mr. Akin to defend all these and reconsider his stand on whether there is fraud in FAAN or not.

Lagos NUJ Condemns Lock-out of Aviation Reporters
The lock-out of Aviation journalists by the Nigerian authorities entered its fourth-day today with no official reason for the action.
Though the protocol officials had early last year claimed they introduced accreditation for journalists coming into the press center of the Presidential Lounge of the Murtala Mohammed International Airport, Ikeja, Lagos, few journalists that were even accredited were barred from the center along with others that were on the waiting list.
The harrasements and the eventual lock-out of journalists from the Press Center of the presidential Lounge was carried out by the combined collaboration of officials of the State Security Service(SSS), the Nigerian Airforce and the Head of Protocol of the Foreign Affairs Ministry who told officials of the League of Airports and Aviation Correspondents that they were acting on orders from the Presidency in Abuja.
In a swift reaction to the unwarranted lock-out of journalists from the press center, the Lagos State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists , NUJ , frowned at the inability of aviation reporters covering the Murtala Muhammed airport in Lagos to perform their professional duties since Saturday , February 4 , 2012
In a statement issued in Lagos on Monday by its Chairman , Deji Gbolahan Elumoye , Lagos NUJ wondered why the authorities at the presidential lounge where the press centre is located have denied the aviation journalists access to their office in the last 48 hours
The union described as unwarranted the act of the security operatives who turned back accredited reporters at the presidential lounge allegedly on orders from above
According to Lagos NUJ , the press centre where journalists' working tools like laptops , recorders and cameras had been locked up should be re-opened forthwith because there is no justification for ejecting reporters from the office they've been using all along
"This latest move by government to stifle the press will be resisted moreso as the press centre has been in use by our members for over 30 years since the times of the military junta
"If the military regimes of Generals Ibrahim Babangida and late Sani Abacha could tolerate our members' use of the press centre when the issue of security was at stake why is it now under a democratic dispensation that journalists are being denied the use of the public facilities at the airport?" ,the council wondered
