Concessionaire Pays Over N400m to FAAN in 14 Months

The concessionaire in-charge of the toll gate at the Murtala Muhammed International AirportIkeja,Lagos claimed it paid N493 million to the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) between Nov. 2008 and Dec. 2009.
Mr Moyosola Niran-Oladunni, Chief Executive Officer, Integrated Intelligent Imaging West Africa Ltd (I-CUBE.W.A), told aviation journalists that the company remits N40 million to FAAN monthly.
He stated that the company generated about N41.5 million in Nov. 2009, while in December the same year the company generated N37.9 million, as a result of fuel scarcity.
``We are the second highest revenue source for the authority,’’ I-CUBE.W.A boss said.
He disclosed that the company was in deficit to the tune of N92 million to its bankers which he declined to name.
``Only about 35 percent of those who ply the access road comply with payment at the toll gate,’’ Niran-Oladunni said, stressing that the other 65 percent do not pay.
The concessionaire noted that staff of the company had often been beaten and assaulted by some individuals who claimed to be government officials.
According to him, the officials have always refused to pay the toll fee while their vehicle plate numbers are covered.He said that traffic count at the toll gate is done both electronically and manually.
