By Lateef Lawal
A suspected pipeline vandal who claimed to be an inspector of police has been arrested at Sagamu by securitymen of the New Age Global Surveillance and Security.

The suspect, Godwin Omolua was caught at one of the pipeline point on Wednesday.
He was holding an alleged police identification card number PCM/576/2010 with tag bearing " Warrant Card".

Before his arrest, he had variously claimed to be a member of the Inspector General of ONPolice Surveillance team, an informant to the Chief Security Officer (CSO) of Nigeria National Petroleum Company, all of which were found to be false.

An officer in the office of the CSO refuted the suspect's claim.

On further interrogation by the security men, he said he had just lost his mother and that he was at the vandalised point to "Look for Wetin I go chop".

When he was later taken to the Sagamu Police Station, the DCO also noted that the purported Identification card the suspect was holding was not issued by the Police authority.
He has since been detained at the police station for further interrogation.

Meanwhile, two trailer load of fuel illegally scooped by vandals and 50 pieces of 50 litres
Jerry cans have been seized from vandals at various points of the pipeline in Sagamu this morning (today) by the security men while on surveillance.

The suspected vandals took to their heels on sighting the advance of security men to where they had already burst.
