*FAAN, POLICE SYNERGIZE

The Managing Director of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), Mr. Richard Aisuebeogun, has appealed to the Murtala Muhammed International Airport Police Command to assist the Authority in reducing heavy traffic on roads within the airport.
Mr. Aisuebeogun who made the appeal while receiving the new airport Police Commissioner, Mr. Danazumi Dome in his office at FAAN’s Headquarters yesterday, said security and traffic management at the Lagos airport were crucial and of utmost concern to the Authority.
While seeking for absolute support of the Police on security at airports, the FAAN boss reiterated that aviation security is globally complemented by the intelligence and defence lines and he urged the new Airport Commissioner to maintain the synergy that exists between the Police and FAAN at the Lagos airport.
He assured the Police Commissioner of the Authority’s unflinching support and readiness to assist the Police in their welfare within the available resources.
In his response, Dome assured the cooperation of his command in bringing traffic congestion on airport roads under control. According to him, traffic at the international axis of the airport has been reduced following the intervention of his officers. He explained that his command had already mapped out strategies to arrest traffic congestion from the Ikeja over-head bridge down to the airport. He added that touting at the airport had gone down gradually at the airport since his assumption of duty.
The Aviation Security Services is currently discussing with the leadership of the police at the airports on modality of operation to reduce the traffic.
FAAN, being the agency in charge of managing airports in Nigeria is currently playing host to all the security and paramilitary agencies in the Country.
He noted that FAAN has been providing office accommodation for the Nigeria Police Force, Nigerian Custom Services, Immigration, State Security Services, National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, and Nigerian Army among others in the airport.
