Posted by Lateef Lawal

The four  journalists kidnapped by gunmen a week ago have been released by their abductors, it has been revealed early this morning at about 3.00am. A source  confirmed to EagleNewsNigeriana a few minutes ago that the journalists are being picked up at a location somewhere inside the forest in Abia State by men of the Nigeria Police Force as at the time of filing in this report.
It could not be immediately confirmed whether any ransom was paid to the kidnappers or not before the release of the abducted journalists.
When contacted on his mobile phone, a member of the Lagos Executive Council of the Nigerian Union of Journalist(NUJ), Akinola Ariyo confirmed the release of the journalists, saying the information about their release got to him early today and that they are already in the custody of the Abia State Police Command awaiting their safe movement to Lagos for a happy re-union with their families and members of the council.
As regards whether any ransom was paid, he said only the released journalists can shed more lights on their ordeal, but since the Police had told 'us not to pay any money, we did not pay a dime.We relied solely on God  and the assistance of the Police'.
